The situation in the Gaza Strip is increasingly dramatic and has led to a serious humanitarian crisis, widely condemned by international organizations and NGOs in the face of disproportionate attacks by Israel, which they now openly accuse of committing genocide. Its intensive aerial bombardments and ground incursion have so far killed more than 40,000 people. More than half are women and children. Civilian infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, and residential areas, has been severely damaged or destroyed. According to the United Nations, the total blockade imposed by Israel has cut off the supply of water, food, electricity, and fuel to the Strip.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Minister of Defence, Yoav Gallant, for war crimes. The chamber has found grounds to believe that both bear criminal responsibility for "directly and deliberately attacking the civilian population."
The court also believes there are reasons to think that "they consciously and intentionally denied the population elements indispensable for their survival, including food, water, and medical supplies." In this sense, they understand that this strategy "created the conditions to eliminate part of the population and caused the death of civilians, including boys and girls, due to malnutrition and dehydration."
