There is as much music as ways to live it. Book Clubbing returns, La Capsa's reading club, where songs, albums, concerts, tours, and festivals, besides being listened to, are also read.
During seven sessions, which will correspond to the reading of seven different books, we will try to compose an overview of the various ways there are to write about music. From autobiographies to oral history accounts, passing through essay or criticism.
JUST KIDS (Patti Smith)
Patti Smith recounts her relationship with Robert Mapplethorpe: a tribute to friendship with pages full of vitality and humor that bring back the taste of a New York where almost everything was possible.
It was July 1967 and they were children, but from then on, Patti Smith and Robert Mapplethorpe sealed a friendship that would only end with the death of the great photographer, in 1989. This is what the wonderful memoir talks about, the common life of these artists, both enthusiastic and passionate, who crossed with great strides the periphery of New York to reach the neuralgic center of new art.
WHAT WILL WE READ?
In this second edition of the Reading Club, we will have a monthly meeting one Thursday of each month, where we will touch upon various musical and literary genres through the following books:
- 16 APRIL - Just Kids (Patti Smith)
- 14 MAY - Here Below (Laia Viñas)
WITH EVA SEBASTIÁN
This second edition of Book Clubbing has been conceived and will be guided by Eva Sebastián.
Born in Sants, she studied Audiovisual Communication at UPF. She obtained the Blog Europa scholarship, which led her to work on When the Martians Arrive on TV3. She continued her career with digital content at Vice, Playground and Indiespot, and currently combines jobs in different media such as El Nacional, Mondo Sonoro, El Confidencial, Acero, Código Nuevo, Buzzfeed, Playz and Revers. If you look for her, you will surely find her at some live music event, from self-managed venues to the latest festival. We can't think of a better guide on this reading journey :-)
