During the month of May, Barcelona and Sant Cugat will host the film forum series “Now that we are together”, focused on the screening of this Mexican documentary and on the generation of dialogue spaces around gender violence in public space.
The documentary, directed by Patricia Balderas, addresses street harassment in Mexico and gathers the experiences of women who, in the face of these violences, promote collective strategies of organization, accompaniment, and self-defense. Through a narrative that intertwines the personal and the political, the film invites reflection on the right of women to inhabit public space without fear.
The cycle will feature the presence of the director herself, Patricia Balderas, and of Diana Alva, protagonist of the documentary and feminist activist, who will participate in the dialogue spaces after the screenings.
Likewise, the closing session will include a round table with Mexican journalists hosted by the Journalists Protection Program, who will contribute their experiences in contexts of violence and defense of rights.
The cycle will take place on three dates:
- May 6 · 18:30 h — Cines Texas (Barcelona)
- May 8 · 19:00 h — Cal Temerari (Sant Cugat del Vallès), with live music by Masta Quba
- May 13 · 18:00 h — La Fede (Barcelona), with film forum and round table
The activity is framed within a commitment to generate spaces for meeting, reflection and collective dialogue around feminisms and the defense of rights.
