Princess Pamina has been captured. Her mother, the Queen of the Night, asks Prince Tamino to rescue her daughter. But when Tamino and his friendly sidekick, Papageno, begin their adventure, they will soon realize that in the search for love, appearances can be deceiving. Guided by a magic flute, they will encounter monsters and villains. But help, as they will discover, appears when one least expects it.
Mozart's fantastic opera shines in this fascinating production by David McVicar. The staging benefits from a luxury cast that includes Julia Bullock in the role of Pamina, Amitai Pati as Tamino, Huw Montague Rendall as Papageno, Kathryn Lewek as the Queen of the Night, and Soloman Howard as Sarastro. The musical direction is by the French Marie Jacquot, who makes her Covent Garden debut with this work.
