The session will take place on February 19 at the Central Library and will be moderated by Pilar Argudo
The program Cafè amb Lletres will dedicate its session of February 19 to the novel Demolició (Clandestina, 2024), by the writer Lluís Llort, a work recognized with the L’H Confidencial de Novel·la Negra 2024 award. The activity will be held at 7 p.m. in the Sala Enric Granados of the Biblioteca Central, with free access until capacity is reached
The novel has as its protagonist Rafel Egidi, a 51-year-old university professor, with a consolidated professional career and an apparently stable life. Besides his academic work, he collaborates with media outlets and participates in radio and television talk shows. This normality is abruptly broken when a young student reports him for rape. Despite declaring himself innocent, the accusation causes the protagonist's personal and social collapse, and highlights the fragility of certainties and the weight of public opinion.
The jury of the L’H Confidencial award has highlighted the agility of the plot, the narrative style, and the timeliness and plausibility of the story. In Demolició, Llort moves away from the humorous tone present in his other works to offer a serious and dramatic look at the protagonist's internal conflicts, the suffering of his environment, and that of the accuser. The novel addresses with a raw and realistic perspective sensitive themes such as rape accusations, with the intention of engaging the reader and generating reflection.
Lluís Llort (Barcelona, 1966) is the author of an extensive and diverse literary career. He has published fifteen novels, five more in collaboration, a dozen children's albums, and has participated in various collective story collections. Within the Crims.cat collection, he has published, among others, No n’estiguis tan segur (2016), Pes mort (2019), Temps mort (2020), and Un assassí (2024). In 2020, he received the Paco Camarasa award for the novel Herencias colaterales, translated into Spanish the same year.
The session of Cafè amb Lletres dedicated to Demolició will be moderated by Pilar Argudo, who will lead the dialogue with the author and the attending public.
