Today, Vil·la Joana is both a memorial and a house of and for literature, a space that highlights and champions the value of the literary word through the figure of Verdaguer. The writer becomes the central axis around which the history of Barcelona is presented as a city closely connected to writing, and which, moreover, serves to convey the phenomenon of universal literary experience. In this way, the museum offers a journey that moves through the special education that took place at Vil·la Joana, continues to recall the social relevance of Verdaguer's life and death, and concludes by testifying to the public transcendence of literature.
