The performing arts and mental health festival L’Altre Festival will celebrate its twelfth edition from May 29 to 31 at the Fabra i Coats venue, in the Barcelona neighborhood of Sant Andreu, with a program that will bring together theater, dance, music, and performances created from diversity and experience in mental health. A good part of this year's proposals come from Barcelona and the metropolitan area, consolidating the festival as a space for community and inclusive creation of reference in the city.

The inauguration will be led by musician Macaco together with Divina Molécula (8:30 p.m.), a group born at the Associació Matissos formed by people linked to mental health processes. The concert, which will be free, will turn the Plaça de la Xemeneia into a great collective celebration marked by mestizo rhythms and protest lyrics.

Among the prominent Barcelona companies is Desconcierto with the show Olimpo (May 29 at 12 p.m.), a piece of physical theater and clown that humanizes Greek gods to talk about emotional vulnerability; Teatre al Ras with Càsting (May 30 at 1:30 p.m.), about the constant pressure of being evaluated; and La Moli with Nada personal (May 30 at 7 p.m.), a black comedy about coexistence and suspicion within a community of neighbors.

Music will play a central role with proposals such as the Roselles Choir Concert (May 30 at 5 p.m.), a Barcelona group that champions singing as a space for well-being and socialization; A de la H (May 30 at 7:50 p.m.), a group born from the Musical Creation oven; or Laboratorio Sonoro (May 31 at 2:15 p.m.), a creative workshop promoted by people linked to mental health entities in the city.

Dance and performance will also have a strong Barcelona presence with pieces such as Límites, by Sai Bella (May 30 at 5:30 p.m.); Desconcert, by DSE (Dansant Sense Etiquetes) which will take place on the 31st at 5:20 p.m.; Nosaltres posem el cos, by Atotaixodansa (the 31st at 8:15 p.m.); or Els visitants, a stage intervention by L’Altre Festival company with Pau Masaló and Albert Pérez (30th at 6:30 p.m.).

Projects directly linked to mental health and community creation in Barcelona will also participate, such as El Club de la Lucha Emocional, Expressa’t, Vulnus Arts Vives i Recerca or GGGG Grup, responsible for a collective exhibition of Art Brut and outsider art.

In addition to the artistic program, L’Altre Festival will this year strengthen accessibility measures with subtitling, sign language interpretation, calm spaces, vibrating backpacks and auditory support systems, consolidating its commitment to an open and accessible culture for everyone.
