La Crema, the only kiosk in Barcelona that also serves as a record store

Newspapers, vinyl records, magazines, music books and illustrations coexist at the La Crema kiosk, located at Marquès de Campo Sagrado street, 13-15, in the Sant Antoni neighborhood.

Under the slogan Culture to go, La Crema is the only kiosk in Barcelona that also serves as a record store. Its owners, Lidia Anaut and Edu Montoya, have been friends for years and in September 2024 decided to open a business that would allow them to combine their passions: music and design“.

People celebrated a lot that a kiosk opened in the neighborhood,” explain the shopkeepers. From their small premises on the corner with Comte Borrell, Anaut and Montoya sell a curated selection of their favorite vinyls, offering a very personal proposal. “La Crema is like bringing our home to the street,” they explain. In fact, the name of the business is born from the idea of selecting the best for the customer, starting from the French expression *La crème de la crème*.

“We are the antithesis of Spotify”

"We are the antithesis of Spotify, where you have everything. We function like a radio station, where you trust someone else's selection criteria," emphasize the newsstand owners. Nevertheless, they express that the client profile they serve is very varied and ranges from families with children to the elderly who buy the newspaper in print.

However, the merchants explain that the kiosk became too small for them. That is why last August they opened a shop right next door, where they also sell clothes, ceramics, and graphic novels. "Now, the kiosk functions as a taste of what can be found in the shop," they conclude
