The district of Nou Barris of Barcelona once again becomes a great stage with the celebration of the Festival de Microteatre dProp, a free cultural proposal that brings performing arts closer to local facilities. Organized by the Asociación Lumo de Artes Escénicas, the festival celebrates this 2026 its fifth edition, consolidating itself as the only micro-theatre festival in Nou Barris and as a unique initiative within the city of Barcelona due to its duration: five days of programming.
The festival will take place over five days in different facilities of the district: on May 8 at Espai Jove Les Basses; on the 9th at Centre Cívic Can Basté; on the 14th at Centre Cívic Torre Llobeta; on the 15th at Ateneu La Bòbila de Porta and on the 17th at Masia de la Guineueta.
The shows start every day at 7 p.m. and each day will feature three micro-theatre pieces, with a total, therefore, of fifteen works. The pieces, between 15 and 25 minutes long, will be performed in a circular format for small groups. The daily capacity is 120 people and all shows are suitable for all audiences. The program combines works in Catalan and Spanish, and presents a varied offer that balances comedy and drama, as well as different themes and scenic languages.
Access to the festival is free, but it is necessary to reserve a ticket in advance through the festival website. Each person can reserve a maximum of six tickets per session. Reservations are already open and some days, such as May 15, have already sold out.
A project in growth
Since its creation, in 2022, dProp has not stopped growing, expanding the number of participating spaces and consolidating its audience, which in the last edition exceeded 550 people. Being part of the Festa Major de Nou Barris has also reinforced its projection within the district's cultural calendar. “The festival is born from the will to democratize theater, make it accessible to everyone and demonstrate the quality of the scenic proposals that exist outside the city's most commercial circuit,” explains Alberto González Reina, director of the festival and of the Asociación Lumo de Artes Escénicas.
The organization also highlights the effort involved in running a circuit of these characteristics. "It is an intense job, but also very gratifying to see the public's response," points out the director.
In addition, dProp aims to expand its reach beyond the District: “Although a large part of the audience is from Nou Barris, we want to reach more and more spectators from the whole city. It is a very interesting opportunity to enjoy free and quality theater in Barcelona, something that is not very common.”
