In the Hostafrancs neighborhood of Barcelona, jazz plays. From last May 24 and until June 14, the Casinet d'Hostafrancs hosts Vermut Jazz, a free cycle with diverse musical formations (trios, quartets, quintets) and with leading figures of jazz from Barcelona and Catalonia, together with novice groups. They are bands that offer accessible jazz for a heterogeneous audience in a format different from the usual context of jazz concerts.

The cycle started last Saturday with Seven Cycle, an international jazz quartet formed by four unique artists, united through permanent listening and musical honesty. Their music lives in the present, shaped by intuition, trust, and years of dedication to their craft. The next date is this Sunday, May 31, at 12:30 p.m. in the Casinet d'Hostrafrancs Courtyard, where singer Belén Bandera and guitarist Carla Motis will perform, offering a unique jazz proposal, approaching the classic jazz repertoire through a young and energetic perspective. In this journey, legendary double bassist Horacio Fumero accompanies them with his experience of more than fifty years of career. The apparent simplicity they exude combines with an undeniable sensitivity to offer a hypnotic result, a warm and endearing experience for any audience they have in front of them.

Later, on June 7, Goat Milk Shots will perform, a trio of rural blues, gospel, and ragtime formed by Elías Babad on vocals and resophonic guitar, Quico Hernández on vocals and washboard, and Joan Torrentó Vilarnau on violin. The formation is inspired by figures like Reverend Gary Davis or the Mississippi Sheiks, and since 2025 has been doing its presentation tour, which has already taken them to perform more than 20 concerts throughout Catalonia.

Finally, on June 14, Windy Coast Band will take the stage, a formation born in Baix Camp in 2021 as a result of a shared interest in the oldest forms of jazz. The band recreates the essence of the traditional New Orleans style, reviewing the sounds of the era with key themes from the first decades of the 20th century and placing the musical pieces and their composers in historical context. The group is formed by Emilio Cabello (clarinet and tenor saxophone), Raúl Pons (trumpet and cornet), Rafa Calatayud (tenor banjo and dobro), David Barcena (plectrum banjo), Roc Lluis Mulet  (trombone), Santiago Soriano (helicon), and Diego García (washboard and bass drum).

The meetings are held on Sundays at 12:30 p.m. in the courtyard of the Centre Cívic Casinet d’Hostafrancs (Rector Triadó, 53). In case of rain, the performance will move to the theater of the Casinet d’Hostafrancs civic center.
