The Barcelona district of Horta-Guinardó once again demonstrated its cultural muscle last Friday, April 24, with the celebration of the awards ceremony of the 5th Horta Ateneus Microtheatre Texts Tournament. The event, held at Foment Hortenc, brought together participants, audience, and entities in an evening marked by emerging talent, emotion, and the strength of small-format dramaturgy. The first prize was received for the second consecutive year by Horta native Alessio Cruz, for the work Acta est fabula Ledwig.

The event not only served to make known the winning texts, but also to bring them closer to the public through a dramatized reading that filled the space with words and interpretations. The attendees were able to taste the diversity and quality of the proposals presented in this fifth edition, which consolidates the contest as a prominent event on the cultural calendar of the District.

The tournament is the fruit of the collaboration between four entities with a long scenic trajectory: the Ateneu Hortenc, the Foment Hortenc, the Lluïsos d’Horta and Òmnium Cultural Horta-Guinardó. “Everyone who wants to write and see their works represented signs up”, explained last year to Cultura B Toni Solé, president of the Lluïsos, highlighting the open and participatory nature of the initiative.

From the Lluïsos d’Horta they have especially celebrated being able to be part of a project that promotes emergent dramaturgy and gives space to new stories born in the neighborhood. The tournament, beyond the competition, becomes a platform for novice creators and an opportunity to weave complicities within the local cultural fabric.

And the proposal does not end here: the winning texts will return to the stage next November, when they will be performed in various spaces in Horta, thus closing the creative cycle that began with writing and culminates with the staging.
