From May 9 to 17, Hospitalet de Llobregat will host a new edition of the Choral Singing Week, an important event in the city's cultural calendar that this year reaches its 42nd edition. Organized by the choirs Elisard Sala, Heura and Xalesta, the proposal will once again make choral singing the protagonist for a few days, with a program that combines tradition and innovation, designed to entertain all audiences.

All concerts will be held at the Auditori Barradas and have a price of 10 euros. You can purchase them here.

Voxalba: voice, body and spirituality

The edition opens on Saturday, May 9 with A cappella en moviment, by Voxalba, a female choir founded in 1989 and directed by Elisenda Carrasco. The proposal fuses choral singing and dance in an immersive scenic experience where movement and voice constantly dialogue. The concert transitions from contemporary sacred music to root sonorities, with a staging that reinforces the expressive dimension of the repertoire. that they have prepared.

Renaissance polyphony and contemporary sonorities

The second concert, which will take place on Sunday, May 10, will bring together the Cor Mvrtra and the Cor Claudefaula. The first, linked to the Monastery of Sant Jeroni de la Murtra, recovers polyphony from the Renaissance and the Baroque under the direction of Jaume Lleixà. The second, formed by eight voices and directed by Glòria Bonal, presents a repertoire ranging from popular song to contemporary compositions. The concert will be enriched with an instrumental ensemble formed by flutes, brass, organ, and percussion.

Wild: memory and feminist gaze

Looking ahead to Saturday, May 16, Silvestres proposes a reinterpretation of traditional Mediterranean music from a current and critical perspective. The voices of Núria Garcia Salas, Heura Gaya and Arantxa Broto recover songs from popular culture with their own arrangements that combine roots and contemporaneity. The project stands out for its feminist and inclusive perspective, as well as for its work with oral memory.

Vocal Groove BCN and the power of gospel

The closing, on Sunday, May 17, will be in charge of Vocal Groove BCN, a gospel choir founded in 2014 that has consolidated itself as one of the reference formations at the state and European level. Directed by David Suárez, they will present an energetic repertoire that combines spirituality, rhythm, and collective strength. The group, internationally awarded in 2024, will close a week full of energy and emotion, consolidating this event as a prominent event of the choral world in Hospitalet de Llobregat.
