Spring is already here and this fact is very noticeable in the cultural programs everywhere. As was to be expected, at the Antic Teatre, the arrival of good weather has translated into a true cultural explosion.
This space of artistic creation, located between the Mercat de Santa Caterina and the Palau de la Música, in the heart of Barcelona, proposes us an extensive program focused on the most risky experimentation during this month of May.
A transvestite who resists in her fortification
From May 7 to 10, Kika Super Puta presents her show Fuerte Esperpento. A work that explains how a transvestite came to have a fortification, where she was able to resist sieges by violent tyrants, famines, the bubonic plague, two ends of the world, and the ignorance of the Middle Ages. In this safe place, the birds sang songs by Mariah Carey. A piece based on real events that aims to make known this historical chapter, certainly unknown to the general public.

Four proposals loaded with new talents
Antic Teatre will also host, from May 14 to 17, 2026, four shows of the Stripart, a festival of artistic projects made by young creators that takes place in different spaces of the city of Barcelona. In this case, at the Antic, four works can be seen there: FRAGILE, The Mis$education, Pour te dénouer and Col·lapse.
FRAGILE, for its part, is a journey that begins in the first beats of life, when we are just a small body –fragile and vulnerable– surrendered to the world without any power of decision. The journey leads us until adulthood where, despite the layers we have learned to wear, often we still discover ourselves equally fragile and vulnerable, subjected to the silent forces of a society that shapes us.
Julia Romero, an artist specialized in movement, dance, and choreography, presents the work The Mis$education, a piece formed by two performers and two school desks (body-object, flesh-material) that speaks to us about the violence both physical and psychological that institutionalized bodies suffer in schools with concepts such as violence, discomfort, institution, and obligation.
La Déborde, a Franco-Spanish company based in Barcelona, will exhibit its new work Pour te dénouer, under the codes of fiction, where it explores the theme of friendship and they will do it in a very original way. They will tell various stories, where bodies will move between complicity to adversity and from humor to pathos to expose on stage the knots of a friendship.
The Stripart Festival will close with the Soma company. Collapse is an experimental contemporary dance project that arises from the question about the way a body behaves when pushed to its limit. One of the definitions we can find for the word "collapse" would be: "Sudden deformation or destruction of a body by the action of a force." This piece seeks to stage the multiple demands we face today and the impossibility of fulfilling them.
Other proposals: dance and fight
Beyond the programming of the Stripart Festival, in dance, from May 21 to 23, it will also be possible to see DÍPTICO # 3, a piece that belongs to a numbered series of programs designed from short and medium-duration choreographies and where the dancers themselves assist each other with their voice, with the lighting, with their bodies, their presences and with small instruments. In this small demonstration there is part of LANDSCAPE and SILENCIOS, an experimental and synesthetic duality about the “zapateado”, flamenco dance, percussion, dance, randomness and silence.
And, finally, a premiere in Catalonia. It will be from May 28 to 31 with Ernesto Orellana G – Teatro SUR (Chile) presenting EDMUNDO, a performative and multimedia monologue inspired by the first fatal victim of HIV/AIDS in Chile, who died in 1984. The work reconstructs an inconclusive sex-political memory from the case of the homosexual professor Edmundo Rodríguez.
