Musically reclaim the periphery. This is the objective of Samfaina, a collective from El Prat that was born with Niu – Social Incubator, a project promoted by the city council of this city managed by the cooperative Heres Social SCCL. The group had a clear purpose: to decentralize culture and demonstrate that the periphery can have a top-level musical offer without having to depend on Barcelona. “We believe in proximity and in the talent we have close to home,” they say from the organization.
Besides the concerts, the platform uses its Instagram to share the cultural recommendations that the public sends them. The group was born a year ago and celebrated its first edition on October 11 at La Capsa del Prat, which brought together local artists such as Ifish, Montflorit, Llamadas Perdidas DJ and Yusyusyus.
The next Samafaina event arrives this Saturday afternoon, May 30, at Sala Padró in Cornellà. The party will take place between 18 h and 22 h. First, Vita Music and La Koras will perform, offering a session of pop music, pure experimentation, deconstruction of genres, and detailed production. Later, Bicidisco will perform. What started as a gathering of friends between beers and synthesizers, has become a musical project that navigates between pop, electronic, and funk. Currently, they are preparing their debut album, polishing a sound where the eighties keyboards and the groove meet with powerful guitars and a voice full of emotion. Vitorio Testa will also play, forged in the underground culture of classic clubs, returns to his home, in Cornellà, to share his suitcase of sonic jewels. The Cornellà DJ is an expert at creating eclectic and highly danceable sessions where Italodisco, EBM, and Darkwave are protagonists. Finally, Qué guapa la DJ will spin, offering a session of “petardeo, ‘macarra’ rock or anthems to shout at the top of your lungs.”
