The Raval neighborhood of Barcelona will host, on May 29 at 5 p.m., a new edition of the Jam de Cultura Urbana at the Jardins de Sant Pau del Camp, an open meeting for everyone that will transform the public space into a stage for music, dance, artistic expression, and coexistence. Produced by Xamfrà, Breaking Barrio Activo, Arnau Itinerant, and Street Art Barcelona, the event reaffirms the commitment of these collectives to urban culture as an educational, community, and transformative tool.
After several editions consolidating itself as a reference event in the neighborhood, the Jam de Cultura Urbana will continue to bring the values of hip-hop to children, young people, and families through its main artistic languages: the breaking, rap, graffiti, and music.
Beyond the show, the Jam champions hip-hop as a culture based on creativity, respect, cooperation, and free expression to generate meeting spaces among diverse people and collectives, and which understands art as a tool to build community and foster coexistence.
The program will include participatory activities, urban dance exhibitions, live music, artistic workshops, and proposals open to the neighborhood, maintaining the community spirit that has characterized all previous editions. The event will also feature the involvement of different collectives and entities linked to the territory and urban culture, who will once again join forces to fill Raval with rhythm, creativity, and community life.
The program
At 10 a.m. there will be a graffiti session with artists Dirty, Dune, and Reos on Tàpies street. In the afternoon, at 5:30 p.m., a live radio session will be held by Radio Nicosia and, simultaneously, at 5:45 p.m. a family workshop by Breaking Barrio Activo as well as the performance by Batucada Milà. At 8 p.m. the open mic will begin and at 8:30 p.m. La Ruka, Asma Ramirez, Zeidah, and Danipuntoge will perform.
With this new edition, Xamfrà continues to bet on performing arts and street culture as spaces for participation, social inclusion, and values education. The Jam de Cultura Urbana thus consolidates itself as a collective celebration where music, dance, and urban art become tools to connect people, generate bonds, and transform public space.
