The project "Overall" consists of collecting a wide variety of work clothes from different professions –such as construction workers, cleaning staff, artists, artist assistants, or mechanics– to break down these pieces into individual strips and re-weave them into a vertical tapestry.
The series "Overall" is a reflection on industrial work, the bodies of the working people involved and the time dedicated to labor activity. In the context, work overalls function as uniforms that anonymize individuals and contribute to a homogenized workforce. Reusing these pieces as artistic material allows to reveal the personal work and the lived experiences that remain embedded in them, while new layers of time and meaning are incorporated into them. Thus, these mural pieces become palimpsests of work, where traces of various economies, bodies, and gestures intertwine.
Despite being rooted in a process of deconstruction and transformation, the works retain a clear intention to produce an object—a finished product, destined for circulation and consumption. Work clothes can transition from one economic sector to another, but they never manage to escape the economic system itself.
