The Espai Corberó is a unique artistic and architectural complex located in the old town of Esplugues de Llobregat, considered one of the most representative works of the creator Xavier Corberó (1935–2017). An internationally renowned sculptor, Corberó transformed this space into his home-studio and a total work of art, where architecture, sculpture, and nature merge.
Built between the seventies and nineties, the complex consists of a set of concrete volumes, courtyards, arches, and corridors, creating a labyrinthine and poetic structure. The play of light and shadow, staircases that lead nowhere, and monumental voids turn the Espai Corberó into a visual metaphor for time, memory, and silence.
For years, this space was the artist's residence and studio, where he hosted architects, musicians, filmmakers, and intellectuals from around the world. After his death, the Esplugues City Council initiated a process of conservation and public opening to preserve this unique legacy of Catalan contemporary heritage.
Today, the Espai Corberó is an international benchmark for 20th-century art and architecture, and can be visited during specific periods of the year through guided tours that allow visitors to discover an exceptional creative universe in the historic heart of Esplugues.
