They announced it at the beginning of the year and it has already arrived. The director of the art center La Capella, David Armengol, explained at the event that kicked off the programming of this space in the Raval that they would start publishing a magazine, Pedra, which was born with the challenge of sharing and narrating "all the invisible work that exists on the editorial line of the space."

This Tuesday, the cultural space celebrated its official premiere with the participation of Iñaki Álvarez, Ariadna Rodríguez, Ricardo Duque, Marta Sesé, David Armengol and the artist Sinéad Spelman. Pedra is, therefore, the magazine that opens a new editorial line at the La Capella art center to reclaim the present time as the backbone of the facility. Without historiographical intent, without seeking a future projection, the new publication puts into dialogue what marks the speeds and intensities of La Capella in certain situations and moments.

This periodic publication is born thanks to LIO (La impremta oberta) —an editorial project by nyamnyam and Cultural Rizoma— which is responsible for the edition; secondly, to Todojunto, which designs and, finally, the curatorial team of the center—Marta Sesé, Marc Navarro, Jara Rocha, Rubén Ramos Nogueria and Mònica Rikić— who will write about what happens at La Capella. The artist Sinéad Spelman, who is currently exhibiting Turba among the stones of the central nave, performed some of her songs during the presentation.

The distribution of the first issue of Pedra will be free and can be found in the same room and at other points linked to the context of La Capella.

About the space

The La Capella Art Center is the space that the Barcelona Institute of Culture dedicates to emerging creation. In recent years, its activity has focused on organizing exhibitions with the aim of bringing the most innovative proposals from the city's artists closer to the public.

Barcelona Producció is currently the central project of the programming. Its objective is to promote the participation of artists and professionals in the sector, selected by an independent jury from public calls.
