These coming months, Barcelona fills with festivals to enjoy the good weather, music and food. But there is one that fuses all of this. It is exactly what Wine Festivals proposes, the Barcelona project that wants to open different spaces in the city to toast, enjoy wine culture and let oneself be carried away by the programmed music.
They do it without oenology lessons and with the will to open the world of wine to everyone, not just to experts.
A bunch of dates all over Barcelona
They started on May 9 in Gràcia, and the next stop will be in Poblenou on May 15 and 16. Afterwards they will continue through Sant Antoni (June 5, 6 and 7), Horta (June 13), Jardinets de Gràcia (June 27) and Port Olímpic (July 10 and 11). An urban wine route with which they want to demonstrate that wine can also be fresh, popular and festive.
Behind the project there are four proper names. The wine aspect is provided by Xavier Barba, oenologist and founder of Vins de Grop. Miguel López is the one who puts order: production, design and gastronomy so that everything flows on the day of the festival. David Perramon, sommelier and founder of DVI in Poblenou has, according to the organizers, the gift of recommending a wine just by seeing you. And Javier López, journalist, musician and event producer, is the one who connects all the pieces so that the festival moves forward.
You don't need to be a wine lover
The charm of Wine Festivals is precisely this open approach. Here it doesn't matter if you are a fan of natural wines or if you still order beer when you see a menu too long. The festival seeks to bring closer the culture of wine from celebration and not from elitism.
They have tasting packs from 15 euros, free access to the space where the festival is held, and an atmosphere designed for sharing.
In addition to the tastings, there will be DJs, quality street food, own merchandise, and a selection of premium wines designed so that discovering new things is not incompatible with having a great time.
The reservations for the tasting packs are already available on the website of Wine Festivals.
