Cerdanyola del Vallès begins the cultural year with a six-month theater program that highlights some recognized names on the Catalan scene. The cycle opens with Honestedat, an interpretive duel by Francesc Cuéllar about artistic honesty and power relations in the audiovisual world, with the participation of Míriam Iscla and Dafnis Balduz. The production arrives at the Ateneu de Cerdanyola on January 23 after its run in Girona and Barcelona.
On February 13th, La mà, a dark comedy by Tony Award winner Martin McDonagh, set in a remote hotel in the American South, will premiere. The adaptation is directed by Pau Carrió and stars Pol López, Albert Prat, Mia Sala-Patau, and Soribah Ceesay. Recommended for ages 16 and up.
Actor Marc Tarrida Aribau stars in El principi d’Arquímedes, a play that addresses the limits of suspicion and fear arising from the "innocent" kiss of a swimming instructor to a child. Under the direction of Leonardo V. Granados, the production will be performed in Cerdanyola on March 20.
Already in spring, the great Pau Vinyals will tread the Ateneu on April 17th with Em dic Josep, a musical documentary that explores the memory, madness, and fiction of the life of Camil Clot, one of the most brilliant musicians on the independent scene in Barcelona in the late 90s. Under the direction of Marc de la Varga, and with the performance of singer Daniel Higiénico and the renowned actress Mont Plans.
ZENKIU is this season's different bet, magic will take over the theatre thanks to the talent of Mag Igor with a tribute to everything that moves us, inspires us, and reminds us why we love the stage. On May 8th, the Ateneu will transform into a yellow and musical universe full of energy.
The season will close on May 17 with Operetta, a choral spectacle that combines opera, humor, and strong visuals, directed by Jordi Purtí, featuring some of the best-known pieces by Verdi, Rossini, Bellini, Mozart, Bizet, Wagner, Saint-Saëns, and Offenbach.
All performances will begin at 8 p.m., except for Operetta, which will start at 6 p.m.
