2026 begins with new opportunities for literary creation in Cerdanyola. The Premis Literaris de Cerdanyola and the Jocs Florals de Bellaterra, the two active calls for entries, will close their participation deadlines in the coming weeks, placing literature and creation at the center of the cultural agenda at the start of the year.
Cerdanyola Literary Awards: Open call until February 6
The Premis Literaris de Cerdanyola, organized by the Cerdanyola del Vallès City Council in conjunction with the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, accept submissions until February 6, 2026, in the categories of novel, poetry, and short fiction for young people.
The 2025 awards recognized Aquell any a Xangxun by Francesc Cabiró Gómez for novel; Allà on t’estime by David Carreres Lacasa for poetry, and Indòmit by Sergi Félez Navarro for short narrative for young people. The three works have been published by the UAB Publications Service, in print and digital format.
More presence of young people, less volume in novels and poetry
In the 2025 edition, 162 submissions were received, of which 147 were accepted and 15 rejected for not complying with the rules. The data show an uneven evolution in participation, with a decrease in novels and poetry but a clear increase in the youth category.
The Premi Valldaura – Memorial Pere Calders went from 82 submissions last year to 51 accepted works in 2025. The Premi de Poesia Miquel Martí i Pol also saw a reduction in participants, from 85 to 53 submissions. In contrast, the Premi de Narrativa Breu per a Joves Caterina Albert almost doubled its participation, going from 25 to 47 submitted works, of which 43 were admitted to the competition
Bellaterra's Floral Games, with the deadline looming
The 18th edition of the Jocs Florals de Bellaterra, promoted by the Entitat Municipal Descentralitzada (EMD) of Bellaterra, keeps the submission period open until January 25, 2026. The competition includes poetry and micro-fiction, with separate categories for children, youth, and adults, and is open to participants from the Catalan Countries.
A stepped dam after 2022
The Jocs Florals were revived in 2022 after decades of absence, with an edition that received a good response and expressed a desire for continuity. Despite this, it wasn't until 2025 that the 18th edition was formally announced again, which is the one that now continues in 2026.In the 2022 review, the main awards went to Tenir algú by Montserrat Bastons Garcia; Retorn by Cesc Claramunt; Tu i jo by Didac Quintana Escalante, and Assajos de solitud by Pere Raich i Vendrell
