The municipal theaters of Badalona, the Zorrilla, the Margarida Xirgu and the Blas Infante, are already preparing for a new season after the summer months. Under the motto "Full of stories", the three venues propose from September to December a journey through some of the best productions of the current scene. The new program, which can now be consulted, features 19 shows of theater, music, dance, circus, humor and family proposals.
We will also be able to see the different proposals prepared by various emerging companies that consolidate the Teatre Margarida Xirgu as a creative space with three productions born in artistic residence. It is a local commitment that also incorporates new cultural experiences, such as two new local music cycles.
Kick-off with Jordi Oriol
The Badalona season will begin on September 25 with L'últim àtom, Jordi Oriol's new piece starring Joan Carreras, Mia Esteve, Paula Malia, Carles Pedragosa and Lara Segur. And it will continue with some of the most relevant names in the Catalan and Spanish scene. Artists such as Badalona's Carles Sans, with his farewell show Per fi me'n vaig!; Àngels Gonyalons, protagonist of the musical El retrat de Dorian Gray; Jose Corbacho and David Fernández, with No somos Estopa; the Brodas Bros company, with the contemporary dance proposal BŌ; José Sacristán, with El hijo de la cómica; or the award-winning production Farra, distinguished with the Max Award for best musical show.
The Xirgu: consolidated space
The Teatre Margarida Xirgu will once again be the space for the most intimate and local proposals, with productions such as Compto cada passa meva sobre la terra, a production with a strong link to the city starring Oriol Genís, with dramaturgy by Lluïsa Cunillé, National Culture Award, and direction by Xavier Albertí; Manual per a éssers vius, by La Mula, and Leonora, by Alberto Conejero, interpreted by Natalia Huarte.
The cycles Entre cordes and Nit de jazz are born
One of the main novelties of this season is the launch of the cycles Entre cordes and Nit de jazz, two new musical proposals that will transform the stage of the Teatre Zorrilla. Under the motto La música, a tocar, the objective is for the public to enjoy the concerts in a "more direct, intimate and singular" way.
Entre cordes will bring together three evenings dedicated to chamber music and lyrical music, with the participation of soprano Rocío Martínez, tenor Francisco Fernández, the Freixas Trio and the Tempus Trio. The event will also highlight the talent trained at the Badalona Professional Music Conservatory, now that it has more than forty-five years of experience.
For its part, Nit de jazz will kick off with a double session starring the Josep Traver Organ Trio with Martí Serra and the Irene Reig Quartet, who will inaugurate this new space dedicated to jazz.
