Bringing jazz to Sant Joan Despí and expanding the community of this dance nationally and internationally. This is the objective of the On&On, a festival held from June 26 to 28 in this municipality of Baix Llobregat. Behind the project are Jordi Ballesté from Esplugues and Laura Esteban and Carlos Rodriguez from Barcelona. All three are artists and teachers linked to jazz with extensive experience on stage, in creation, and in teaching.
The name of the festival, "on and on," which would translate from English as "continue and continue," comes from the artists' desire to grow the community of dancers through dance. "We invite dancers and creators to travel from the roots of jazz towards its future, exploring tradition and new trends," say the organizers.
The gathering, therefore, consists of three days of master dance classes between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. led by Roonie Todorowski, Dylan Pearce, Lori Ann Ferreri, Iker Karrera, and Aixa Guerra. All of them are teachers with extensive professional experience both in teaching and as dancers and choreographers in cities like Paris and New York. Registrations can be made here.
The meeting point of the festival will be at the Freedom Dance school in Sant Joan Despí (Avinguda de Barcelona, 22) in a spacious room designed for dancing.
About the dance school
Freedom Dance is a dance training center that offers classes in a wide variety of styles, such as salsa, bachata, hip-hop, and contemporary dance. As they say from the school, they mainly welcome new dancers who "discover that dancing becomes their favorite moment of the week."
The center welcomes students mainly from municipalities in Baix Llobregat, such as Cornellà, Esplugues, and Sant Just Desvern.
