This Tuesday, June 23, the streets of Sant Adrià de Besòs become the setting for a much-anticipated event: the arrival of the Flama del Canigó. With the motto “The fire that unites us”, the city's associative fabric has mobilized to coordinate the route of this festive symbol, closely linked to the summer solstice, which will serve to light the bonfires of the eve throughout the municipality.

The details of the parade and the agenda in the city

The activity is concentrated during the afternoon and evening of this Tuesday, starting from the heart of the city and culminating in the Plaça de l'Església with a series of popular events:

  • 5:30 p.m. – Reception of the flame transported directly from the summit of Canigó.

  • 6:00 p.m. – Start of the Parade in the Plaça de la Vila. The itinerary will go up Avinguda de Catalunya and Carrer de Pi i Margall, cross Plaça de Maria Grau and continue up Carrers d'Andreu Vidal, de les Monges and de l'Església to the final destination. The musical entertainment throughout the journey will be provided by Samba So and Tabalers de Tronada.

  • 6:45 p.m. – Arrival of the entourage at Plaça de l’Església.

  • 6:50 p.m. – Speech by the Ateneu Adrianenc.

  • 6:55 p.m. – Act of lighting the brazier while the public is asked to participate with the “Cant de la Senyera”.

  • 7:05 p.m. – Reading of the Sant Joan manifesto shared by Òmnium 2026.

  • 7:10 p.m. – Space for sardana dancing and the exhibition of a casteller pillar.

  • 7:20 p.m. – Demonstration of fire and firecrackers with the group of devils and she-devils Tronada.

  • 7:30 p.m. – Time for the classic tasting of coca and muscatel.

  • 8:00 p.m. – End of the events in the square to give way to private celebrations.

The organization of this day is the result of the joint effort of Òmnium Cultural Barcelonès Nord and the Ateneu Adrianenc, with the direct involvement of the Sant Adrià de Besòs City Council, Unesco Sant Adrià, Samba So, Tronada and the Agrupament Escolta i Guia Sant Adrià.

Seventy years of shared history

This collective ritual has maintained its roots since 1956. Since then, the fire has been kept burning for twelve months a year at the Castellet de Perpinyà. On the morning of June 22-23, dozens of volunteers are in charge of carrying it up to the highest part of the Pyrenees mountain. Once there, at midnight, the flame branches out into hundreds of routes that end up covering more than 350 towns and lighting nearly 3,000 bonfires in a single night, thanks also to the group of Adrianenc citizens who make its transfer to our municipality possible.
