A parade of popular culture has toured this Sunday the Eixample, from Casa Batlló to the Sagrada Família, to celebrate the inauguration of the Jesus tower. The festival of the city's giant and big-head figures arrives a few days after the visit of Pope Leo XIV to Barcelona, who last Wednesday presided over the inauguration and blessing ceremony of the new tower, coinciding with the centenary of the architect's death.
To culminate the celebration among rivers of tourists, the Macers de Barcelona big-heads, the Gaudí giant figure from Riudoms and the basilica's rector, Father Josep Maria Turull, have entered the basilica to make a floral offering at the tomb of the architect Antoni Gaudí.
From Casa Batlló to the basilica
The popular culture parade started at 10:00 AM at Casa Batlló, in the heart of Passeig de Gràcia, with a musical performance on the building's facade. This first stage of the route featured the participation of the giants of Gràcia, of Vilassar de Mar, the giantess Crespinella and the big-head of Gaudí.
An hour later, the procession stopped at Casa Milà-La Pedrera, where the Gaudí giant from Riudoms, the dwarfs Trenca and Dis and Forjat, one of the warrior giants of La Pedrera, joined them and toured Rosselló street to the Sagrada Família basilica, where they arrived around 12:30 PM. There were giant and big-head dances, and the delivery of gifts to the participating groups, by Esteve Camps, delegated president of the construction board.

The Macers big-heads, the City giants, the Pi giants, the Santa Maria giants, the Riudoms giants, the Pedrera giants and the Sagrada Família giants participated in the performances in front of the Sagrada Família's Renaissance facade. The dances of giants and big-heads awakened the festivity of the participating groups and the curiosity of the many tourists who, on a Sunday in June, filled the surroundings of the temple.
