The renowned chefs Torres brothers inaugurate this week a new gastronomic space in the heart of Barcelona: a restaurant stall located in the Mercat de Santa Caterina.

It is a project that, according to the chefs themselves, they have been preparing for months and are carrying out with great enthusiasm, as it represents a new way of understanding their cuisine in direct contact with the city and local produce.

The new proposal, baptized with the name Parada Torres, is born with the desire to become much more than a restaurant within a market. The Torres brothers want this space to be a gastronomic experience linked to the territory, designed for both neighborhood residents and market visitors. In their words on their social networks, the project aims to be “a tribute to the market and to all the markets of Barcelona,” spaces they consider essential for understanding our culinary culture.

A family market

The choice of Mercat de Santa Caterina is not casual. The chefs have explained on their social networks that this place is part of their personal and family history. Their grandmother Catalina regularly shopped there, and they themselves remember having played among its stalls when they were little. This emotional bond has been key to deciding to open this new business there, also turning it into an intimate tribute to their family history.

Seasonal cuisine

Regarding the gastronomic proposal, Parada Torres will be based on market cuisine. This means seasonal cuisine, focused on fresh and local produce, bought directly from the producers they have already been getting to know these days.

The new space also has a very clear motto that summarizes the spirit of the project: ‘Long live the market!’. With this expression, the chefs want to assert the importance of markets as centers of life, gastronomic culture, and social interaction.

With this opening, the Torres brothers complement the commitment they have been making for years with the restaurant Cocina Hermanos Torres, located in Les Corts and which has three Michelin stars.
