Víctor Bocanegra has presented Estocàstic, his new album. A work that brings together confessional, more or less autobiographical, satirical, lyrical, and socially critical pieces. With a unique, free, and profoundly literary career, Bocanegra has built a universe that moves between blues, jazz, rock, song, and poetry. A restless, tireless creator, faithful to his own language that he continues to expand with each new project.

The result is a rich, stimulating, and nuanced repertoire, capable of entertaining and engaging the most curious listener. The new album also includes a bonus track, La cadira, a poem with a piano soundtrack composed by the author himself.

Stochastic, a choral work with various artists

Maurici Villavecchia has taken charge of the arrangements and musical direction, bringing together a host of top-tier musicians who collaborated on the recording made in June and July 2025 at the HEeart Work studio in Prat de Llobregat. Among them are Javi Garrabella (bass and assistant director), Horacio Fumero (double bass), Pere Foved (drums), Josep Traver (guitar), Max Villavecchia (piano), Cece Gianotti (guitar and vocals), Andreu Simon (drums and percussion), Xuan Sánchez (percussion), Gabriel Amargant (sax), Òscar Latorre (trumpet), Liba Villavecchia (sax), and sound engineer Gerard Porqueres.

With Estocàstic, Bocanegra continues to delve into the languages that are his own, such as blues, jazz, and rock. All of this combined with the personal touch and melodic instinct that have always characterized him. Songs that become the natural vehicle for refined and well-crafted lyrics, heirs to a solid songwriting tradition, but always open to new forms of expression.

An Unclassifiable Musical Trajectory

Bocanegra, born in Barcelona in 1960, is one of the most personal and unclassifiable voices on the Catalan music scene. He trained in piano with Rita Brosa, Àngel Soler, and Agustí Fernández, and in singing with Dolors Cortès and Kirby Navarro, combining this more academic learning with the creative effervescence of the Aula de Jazz and Maria Anglada's studio on Avinyó street in the Catalan capital. In 1978, he won the Atticus singer-songwriter competition, with a jury composed of Àngel Casas, Françoise Cahuet, and J.M. Pallardó, an award that propelled his early projects, such as the bands Patinet Violeta (1974) or Bocanegra (1984), with whom he performed on major stages.
