La casa de Bernarda Alba, by Federico García Lorca, premiered on March 8, 1945, 81 years ago. It is an intense and suffocating masterpiece that portrays female repression, authoritarianism, and the struggle for freedom in rural Spain. Its suffocating atmosphere and the contrast between characters—from the tyrannical Bernarda to the rebellious Adela—offer a current social critique on the dangers of conventionalism and fanaticism for honor.
Federico García Lorca was assassinated at the beginning of the Civil War, for being homosexual and left-wing, leaving an important legacy.
We want to dedicate the performance on March 7 in the afternoon to the working woman and the importance of her work in our society.
Upon completion of said performance, a round table will take place that will address the issue of the patriarchy in our society.
We hope you enjoy our staging. This is dedicated to our audience.
