The CASINO DEL CENTRE DE L’HOSPITALET DE LLOBREGAT is a non-profit association that was established for an indefinite period on July 31, 1873, under the name "CENTRO ECONÓMICO, AGRICOLA E INDUSTRIAL DE LA VILLA DE HOSPITALET DE LLOBREGAT" and which, over time, has become a sociocultural benchmark in our city
The association, which is non-profit, has the common aim of general interest to facilitate for its members and other interested parties all those activities it deems appropriate, both cultural – conferences, courses, exhibitions – and recreational – dances, music, theatre, sports, etc. – as well as preserving and disseminating Catalan culture and its traditions. Furthermore, it fosters relationships between members and third parties, and relationships with other institutions, all with the aim of maintaining and improving the social standing enjoyed by the Entity, which has been declared a public utility entity since 2007.
The institution, the oldest in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, celebrated in 2023 its 150th anniversary, when a group of enthusiastic prominent citizens from the old town and farmers from the agricultural area of La Marina, scattered in farmhouses, believed in the need to build a center for recreation and culture. It hosted the Doctor Robert Schools, which later also founded the Orfeó Doctor Robert, and the hiking group Saltadiç was created. At the same time, people danced there, families socialized, business deals were closed, or they simply chatted in their free time.
This past 2023, coinciding with our 150th anniversary as an organization, we had the honor of being awarded the Creu de Sant Jordi 2023 for "our remarkable cultural and social action" and also for being "a living and rooted entity" in L'Hospitalet.
