In Santa Coloma de Gramenet, August still needs to pass before the Summer Festival begins, which this year will take place from September 4 to 7. Nevertheless, the Santa Coloma de Gramenet City Council has advanced what will be the festival's program, consisting of 116 activities. Among the main musical attractions are the concerts by David Bustamante, Chanel, Sopa de Cabra, Sidonie, Los Manolos, El Drogas, María Peláe, and 31 FAM, who will share the stage with numerous local artists such as Javi Jareño, Laura Lázaro, Rebeca Carpio, Rumbita d'Calle, Toni Cadena, and Piratas Rumbversions, among others.

The official presentation of the program was held on July 23, in the gardens of Can Roig i Torres, led by Mayor Mireia González. During the event, the mayor defined Santa Coloma's Festa Major as "the meeting and reunion point" of the city after the summer. As she explained, the celebration represents "the open door to September" and a moment for citizens to once again fill the streets and share culture, music, and coexistence.

A benchmark for popular culture

The program will bring together 52 artists from Santa Coloma and the involvement of 30 local entities, with proposals designed for all audiences and a combination of popular culture events, concerts, family activities, sports, and exhibitions. The mayor highlighted that an "ambitious, diverse, and high-quality" program has been prepared that reflects "the spirit of an open, plural, and dynamic Santa Coloma" and aims to reach families, children, young people, and the elderly.

The festival will maintain the most traditional events, such as the inaugural procession, the correfocs (fire runs), the parade of giants, the castells (human towers), and the havaneres (sea shanties), but will also strengthen the family program with the Violeta Festival of La CIBA, children's shows, sports activities, and cultural proposals spread throughout the city.

This year, in addition, the Festa Major will serve to commemorate two significant anniversaries: the centenary of the Amics de la Sardana and the 40th anniversary of the New Giants, Genís and Margarida. During the presentation, the sale of the first collectible figure of Santa Coloma's giants was also announced, an initiative born to coincide with this celebration.

Solidarity cause for the Festa Major scarf

The solidarity aspect will also once again take center stage with the traditional solidarity scarf, the proceeds of which will be entirely allocated to the municipal food program managed jointly by Red Cross Barcelonès Nord and the City Council. Distribution will again be done by prior reservation with the Festa Major wristband, which will also allow obtaining discounts for the amusement fair.

Regarding the image of the Festa Major, citizens have once again chosen the poster through popular vote, a process that this year has registered nearly 2,000 participants, an increase of approximately 40% compared to recent editions. The work is by the designer, musician, and illustrator from Coloma Marc Vila, artistically known as Markie Brown, who explained that the poster is inspired by "color, life, and the river" as elements that identify Santa Coloma. The artist thanked the trust received and assured that it is "an honor" to be able to represent the city with the image of this edition of the Festa Major.
