The entity Unesco Sant Adrià celebrates this Tuesday, April 28 at 7 p.m. a new edition of its traditional Literary Dinner, one of the most consolidated events on the local cultural calendar. In this 16th edition, the protagonist will be the archaeologist and naturalist Jordi Serrallonga, who will present the paper titled "Adventures and Misadventures of a Nomadic Primate". The event, which combines intellectual reflection with a dinner-discussion, will take place at the Casal Dalt de la Vila.
Science and exploration in the service of local culture
Jordi Serrallonga (Barcelona, 1969) is an archaeologist, explorer and a renowned scientific popularizer. His choice as a speaker is not casual: Serrallonga is a collaborator of the Museum of Natural Sciences of Barcelona (at the Fòrum venue) and has previously participated in Unesco Sant Adrià projects. His intervention is framed within anthropology and evolution, disciplines he explores from a narrative perspective and based on his expeditions to Africa and Latin America.
Under the title of the talk, Serrallonga proposes a journey through the history of the human species from a nomadic perspective, a theme that is the central axis of his career and that he has documented in works such as Dioses con pies de barro or Un arqueólogo nómada en busca del Dr. Livingstone. The session will allow attendees to get to know closely the field work of one of the most multifaceted naturalists in the country in a proximity format.
A format of success for the citizen debate
With sixteen editions behind it, the Unesco Literary Dinners have become a critical thinking space of reference in Sant Adrià. The dinner-discussion format is designed to break the barrier between speaker and audience, fostering direct dialogue. In previous years, the cycle has featured the presence of prominent figures in literature and thought such as Màrius Serra, Alba Castellví or Gemma Ruiz.
The event not only closes the cultural program around the month of Sant Jordi in Sant Adrià, but also strengthens the role of local entities in the creation of debate spaces where literature joins with other disciplines such as science and history.
Given that the event includes a dinner with the guest, the capacity is limited to guarantee the quality of the discussion. All people interested in attending must complete a prior registration, which is mandatory. The procedure can be done in person at the Biblioteca de Sant Adrià (C. de la Mare de Déu del Carme, 22), where the dinner ticket must be paid to confirm the place.
