The Festa Major of Santa Magdalena d'Esplugues de Llobregat has already left behind an intense first weekend of popular activities, but now faces its most emblematic days. After the correbars, concerts, popular dinner, casteller day and children's correfoc, the program continues and ends this Wednesday, July 22, with a day dedicated to tradition, popular culture and fire, coinciding with the feast of the patron saint.
The first days of celebration have filled the streets with a festive atmosphere, but the Festa Major reserves some of its most anticipated events. This Wednesday, the 22nd, the feast of Santa Magdalena, the Gardens of Casal Robert Brillas will once again become the epicenter of the celebration.
At 7 p.m., a display of Esplugues' own dances will begin in the Gardens of Casal Robert Brillas with the participation of popular culture entities and the musical accompaniment of the Santa Magdalena band. This is one of the most representative moments of the Festa Major, in which the traditional dances and elements of the municipality are reclaimed.
The celebration will continue with the Procession to the office. The groups will form at 7:45 p.m. in the Gardens of Casal Robert Brillas and, at 8 p.m., will begin the route to the parish of Santa Magdalena, accompanying the festive figures and entities through the streets of the city center.
Once at the church, at 8:50 p.m., the Dances and Offerings will take place, a solemn act that combines religious tradition with manifestations of popular culture, and which constitutes one of the most symbolic moments of the patron saint's day.
The day will end in Plaça Pare Miquel d'Esplugues, where fire will become the protagonist. At 9:30 p.m., the Ball de Diables will offer the traditional Versots, a satirical representation full of humor and criticism about local and general current events. Immediately after, at 9:50 p.m., the Carretillada will arrive, a spectacular explosion of fire and pyrotechnics that will put an end to the most traditional day of the Festa Major.
