The second season of Teatre Raval, which reopened its doors in April after a complete renovation, has already been presented. The space, now under the artistic direction of Pep Tosar and Evelyn Arévalo, from the company Oblideu-vos de nosaltres, seeks to take root again in the Barcelona neighborhood through the creation and production of its own shows, their exhibition, and the support and programming of shows by companies, artists, and projects that are close to the artistic spirit that the company has created over the years.
Thus, on September 16 Teatre Raval will kick off its second season with the play Una habitación propia by Virginia Woolf, directed by María Ruiz and performed by Clara Sanchis, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its premiere. The play will run until September 27.
Other key moments of this season will be marked by the premiere of Vientos del Pueblo (from October 7 to November 15 at Sala Tadeusz Kantor), the new project by the company Oblideu-vos de nosaltres, a show by Pep Tosar based on the life and work of Miguel Hernández. The 30th anniversary of the company Roberto G. Alonso will also be celebrated with its play Jo, travesti (from November 17 to 28 at Sala Tadeusz Kantor). In addition, at Espai Damià Huguet the cabaret as a space for reflection Noli me tangere by the company El Nen Congelat will premiere, from October 29 to December 5.
The theater programming will continue with La Casa en Obres, a play that will have been programmed from December 2 also at Sala Tadeusz Kantor, thus reviving this show by Pep Tosar about the life and work of Blai Bonet, on the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Mallorcan poet and novelist. It can be seen until January 10.
Music will continue to consolidate itself as a key part of the Teatre Raval's programming with La Gran Blue Nit de... Ana Brenes in the Sala Tadeusz Kantor. Brenes' performance will take place on October 17 at 7 p.m. and will be the presentation of the album Mientras camino, an intimate and moving journey through life where personal experiences and imagined moments intertwine. Faithful to traditional flamenco, her compositions are also nourished by poetry, social criticism, and self-criticism, alongside the guitar of Toni Abellán. Also, on December 12 and 19 at 9 p.m. it will be the turn of LaLorea, the stage name of the Canarian singer-songwriter María Lorea (based in Barcelona since 1999), accompanied by a four-piece band, presenting her most personal and mature project, celebrating more than 25 years of career on stage.
Tickets for all the shows of this new season are already on sale on the Teatre Raval website. On the occasion of the season presentation, tickets will have a 25% discount during the summer.
