Cinemes Girona has completed this summer the most important technological investment it has made since its opening in 2010. All its screens now have state-of-the-art laser projectors, which definitively replace the old equipment. In addition, the Dolby Atmos sound system has also been installed in Screen 3.
"The best way to defend independent cinema is to offer it with the best image and sound quality," explains Toni Espinosa, head of Cinemes Girona. And it is that from this Barcelona cinema, they defend that programming the best films also means projecting them in the best possible conditions.
With this commitment, Girona reinforces its commitment to national and international auteur cinema, original versions, festivals, previews and discussions with film crews, maintaining a cultural offer that has made them one of the country's reference cinemas.
New annual subscriptions
This announcement coincides with the new annual subscription campaign. To adapt to this new stage, the subscription incorporates a novelty: it maintains unlimited access to all sessions from Monday to Thursday and establishes a supplement of 2 euros per session on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Until July 31, 2026, these subscriptions can be found at the box office of the Barcelona cinema (Girona street, 175) for only 100 euros. And also through the TRESC website for 95 euros.
According to Cinema Girona, these subscriptions are much more than a formula for accessing cinema; they are a whole community of spectators who have made cinema a cultural habit.
Some of the titles that will premiere next season are La Bola Negra (Los Javis), Club Kid (Jordan Firstman), Esta soledad (Javier Giner) or Jaleos (Isaki Lacuesta), among others.
A fully consolidated cinema
Inaugurated in 2010, Cinemes Girona are committed to independent talent and national and international auteur cinema, in addition to programming a long list of festivals, special screenings, previews and sessions for schools. Fully integrated into their neighborhood, they also collaborate with many cultural and social initiatives. It is not uncommon to see film professionals interacting with their audience, in the sessions they organize with discussions with the film crews. For all these reasons, in 2022 they received the Pepón Coromina Award from the Catalan Film Academy, and in 2025 the Continuarà Award granted by RTVE-Catalunya.
