L'Hospitalet will transform public spaces into cultural stages from June 25 to July 24 with a new edition of Summer, the cycle of summer activities that will bring free and local programming to the neighborhoods, designed for all audiences.
For a month, squares, parks, gardens, and cultural facilities in the six districts will host more than seventy proposals, including circus shows, clown, dance, theater, concerts, open-air cinema, and initiatives aimed at families and young children.
A decentralized program
Summer will deploy its activity in the city's six districts. In District I (el Centre, Sant Josep, and Sanfeliu), the gardens of the Can Sumarro Library will become one of the main meeting points of the summer with circus shows, family theater, storytelling, and scientific dissemination activities. Also noteworthy is the concert by Duendes del Parke, the winning group of the last edition of the Hospisona contest.
District II (Collblanc and la Torrassa) will have the Marquesa park as its main stage, with various street art shows, live music, the Local Audiovisual Talent Showcase, and a new edition of the scientific monologues Stand-Up Science, starring researchers from the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL). Among the musical proposals, L'H Joves Músics stands out, an event dedicated to the city's emerging talent that will bring together performances by Siona, Gatefold, and Somsoul, three young projects that move between singer-songwriter pop, guitar rock, soul, funk, and new contemporary sounds.
In District III (Santa Eulàlia and Gran Via Sud), the program will combine street theater, clown, music, and participatory family activities, with special prominence given to Maria Artigal square and the neighbors' square. As for live music, the rumba concerts by El Kiwi and Dantuvi stand out with a festive and rhythmic proposal. In District IV (la Florida and les Planes) and District V (Pubilla Cases and Can Serra), Summer will combine circus and dance shows with concerts and open-air cinema sessions. The rooftops of the La Bòbila Cultural Center will once again be a unique space to enjoy live music with proposals promoted by Bestiar Universal and Terrats en Cultura.
In District VI (Bellvitge and Gornal), the program will include shows for children, amateur theater, urban culture activities, concerts, and family circus, with the Bellvitge metropolitan park as one of the main stages. In the musical field, Carmen Aciar's proposal De amores y miedos stands out, within the Terrats en Cultura cycle, and the concert 10 years of songs by María Ruiz, which commemorates a decade of artistic career.
One of Summer's distinctive features is the territorial distribution of its programming. In this vein, several proposals will tour different districts of the city, favoring territorial cohesion and citizens' access to local culture. Among these activities are the circus show Express, by the company Faltan 7; ¡Arriba!, by José Luis Redondo, and the participatory circus workshop L’artista ets tu, by Kanaya Circ.
