The Festa Major of Sant Just Desvern will be held from July 29 to August 6 and will offer activities for all audiences. As every year, it will maintain its usual "popular and participatory character," according to the council and the organizing entities.
The poster by Santjustenc Luis Alonso Collado was announced on June 11 as the winning proposal of this year's Festa Major poster contest. The final decision, from which this work was chosen among a total of 27 candidates, was made by a jury formed by representatives of the City Council and various local entities, such as AEiG Martin Luther King, the youth center Ara Mateix, the Casal de Joves, the percussion group Bandandarà and El Cub, a cultural and musical entity that promotes young talent in the city.
The festival will kick off with the proclamation by Soledat Sans Serafini, artist and founder of Carrau Blau, the municipal plastic arts workshop, and music will once again be the protagonist at the Barraques, on the Bonaigua esplanade, which will host performances by El Pony Pisador, La Noche Quilombera, Les Gamberres and l’Orquestra del Futur.
In addition to the aforementioned musical performances, the municipality will host a program with cultural, traditional, recreational, and family activities, promoted by the City Council and local entities, with activities distributed in different spaces of the town.
New Festival Coordinator
Among the novelties of this edition, the creation of the Festival Coordinator stands out, an initiative promoted by individuals and entities from Sant Just Desvern to encourage citizen participation in the organization and evolution of the Festa Major. Open to all citizens, the coordinator has held several meetings to gather proposals and will organize activities on July 29 and 30 in Plaça Verdaguer, expanding the festive offer and reinforcing the participatory nature of the celebration.
