This October 2026 will mark ten years since the opening of the new headquarters of Sala Beckett in the building of the former Cooperativa Pau i Justícia, in the Poblenou neighborhood of Barcelona. To begin celebrating this anniversary, the cultural facility has organized a big party open to all citizens this Friday, June 5, with a day full of activities that will occupy a good part of the day.

For the occasion, Pere IV street will even be closed, becoming the stage for a special program with concerts, a popular paella, dramatized readings, talks, family activities, and the presentation of the 2026/27 season. The celebration aims to bring together all the people who have been part of Beckett's history during this decade, as well as the residents of a neighborhood that has accompanied the project since its arrival in Poblenou.

Festive day dedicated to everyone

"Beckett would not be Beckett without all the people who have made it possible over this decade and without the warmth of a neighborhood that has made it its own from day one," they point out on Instagram from the theater. For this reason, they invite everyone to join a festive day that will combine culture, reflection, music, and gastronomy.

The program will begin at 12 p.m. with the presentation of the 2026/27 season, an event that will feature the participation of the artists starring in the new program. At 1:30 p.m., the musical vermouth will arrive, enlivened by the label Ultra-Local Records, linked to the Poblenou neighborhood. At 2 p.m., a popular paella will take place. Tickets cost 10 euros and include paella, dessert, and a drink.

The afternoon will continue with several open mic sessions, scheduled at 3:30 p.m., 5 p.m., and 6:30 p.m., with readings of short theatrical texts from the Sala Beckett Workshop. At 4 p.m., Alba Riera will host an edition of La Xapa dedicated to reflecting on the relationship between city and culture. The round table will feature the participation of Sergi Egea, Xavier Fina, Berta Prieto, Núria Ramis Masachs, and Eva Sòria.

Family activities will take center stage at 5:30 p.m. with a hot chocolate party and the children's concert Un any de cançons, by Sonall. Later, at 7:30 p.m., Josep Pedrals will present his poetic show Bé que et va.

The day will culminate from 9:30 p.m. with concerts by La Pum Pim Pam and Les Modernes del Raval, before the after-party with PD's.

Throughout the day, attendees will also be able to create their Beckett character, renew their membership for 20 euros, visit the book and merchandise stand, attend Fartura, the Sample of the Philosophy Workshop of Sala Beckett, or see the performance of Dinamarca, by Lluïsa Cunillé.
