L'Hospitalet continues to advance in the construction of its own gastronomic identity around the xefla, the dish that symbolizes the city and aims to reflect its diversity, coexistence, and community character. In this context, La Farga will host on June 6, from 11 am to 11 pm, the second edition of GastroTeca, an event open to all citizens that becomes a new impulse to consolidate this collective project.

The initiative comes months after the official presentation of this new emblematic dish of L'Hospitalet. The project is born from the desire to connect gastronomy with local history, popular memory, and citizen participation, and has been developed with the involvement of professionals from the gastronomic sector and various entities linked to the territory.

What is the xefla like?

Well, it is presented as an open and adaptable recipe. Its base combines quality rice, an animal or vegetable protein, seasonal vegetables, and a distinctive ingredient that allows it to be reinterpreted according to the creativity and cultural influences of each cook. It is served in an earthenware casserole and can be accompanied by different sauces, a versatility that reinforces its vocation to represent the plurality of the city.

GastroTeca, the perfect excuse to taste it

During GastroTeca, visitors will be able to taste various versions of the xefla prepared by a dozen restaurants in L'Hospitalet, as well as participate in a wide program of gastronomic, cultural, and family activities. The event will include workshops, tastings, immersive experiences, showcookings, and musical performances throughout the day.

Among the featured proposals will be the Showcooking Kitchen Classroom, coordinated by the slow food chef Susana Aragón, with the participation of Maria Nicolau, godmother of the xefla, and Ada Parellada. The Xeflab space will also be set up, dedicated to dissemination, debate, and gastronomic experiences, with talks and tastings.

A program based on healthy eating

The family program will offer activities related to healthy eating, sustainability, and knowledge of local products. In addition, attendees will be able to discover unique proposals such as a virtual reality workshop to learn about this star dish of l'Hospitalet, experiences linked to smell and gastronomic memory, craft beer tastings, or the so-called "liquid feast."

The day will be completed with concerts, DJ sessions, and an exhibition dedicated to the new dish that will explain the origin of the project, the process of creating the recipe, and its connection with the history and identity of l'Hospitalet.
