Surely you have heard, or even participated, in some Correllengua. There are many types and formats, driven by diverse entities and rooted in different local realities, but all share the same essence: bringing the language to the street through culture, celebration, and participation.
Under this same name coexist initiatives that do not always resemble each other. Since its origin in Mallorca, the concept of Correllengua has been extending towards other territories such as the Valencian Country or Catalonia, where it has taken its own forms according to the context and the organizing entities. More than a closed format, it is a shared idea that each place adapts and makes grow in its own way.
Now, from this diverse and consolidated journey, emerges a new proposal that wants to go a step further. Inspired by the model of the Islands and the Basque Korrika, is born the Correllengua Agermanat, an initiative that, despite sharing name and essence, proposes an unprecedented format: a single flame that will travel all Catalan-speaking territories continuously.
More than a sum of local events, the Correllengua Agermanat is presented as a collective and coordinated project that connects diverse realities under the same narrative. From April 19 to May 5, 2026, this flame will cross Northern Catalonia, Catalonia, the Valencian Country, the Balearic Islands and Alghero, turning the route into a tangible image of the shared language.
Seventeen stages and more than 1,500 kilometers
The route will start in Prada and will initially be divided into two itineraries: one that will cross the western part of Catalonia and another that will follow the eastern part. Both routes will meet again in Tarragona to continue towards the Valencian Country until reaching Elx. Subsequently, the flame will move to the Balearic Islands, passing through Formentera, Ibiza, Menorca and Mallorca, before culminating the route in Alghero. In total, the project will cover more than 1,500 kilometers in seventeen stages. The route will combine running sections with others by bicycle to facilitate participation and adapt to the planned distances. In each municipality or university through which the flame passes, cultural events, readings of manifestos, and popular activities will be organized.
Pass through Barcelona and the metropolitan area
The flame will arrive in Barcelona on April 21st, where it will spend the night before resuming the route the next day southwards. On April 22nd it will cross several municipalities of the metropolitan area, passing through l'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Esplugues de Llobregat and Cornellà, before continuing towards Castelldefels, where a small reception event is planned. Subsequently, the route will continue along the coast, with a new stop in Vilanova i la Geltrú, until reaching Tarragona, where it will also spend the night before continuing towards the Valencian Country.
Open participation to the citizenry
The registrations are already open and anyone can sign up, whether running, cycling, or cheering on the flame's passage and participating in the cultural activities organized in each municipality. In addition, the organization has produced thousands of t-shirts that are being distributed through hundreds of entities in the different territories.
The project also has educational material so that schools, institutes and entities can work on the Correllengua in the classrooms and bring it closer to the students.
With this first twinned edition, the Correllengua wants to reinforce the shared dimension of the Catalan language and turn the defense of its social use into a collective celebration throughout the territory.
The soundtrack of the Correllengua
This edition also features a own song that has brought together about twenty artists and reinforces the festive and reivindicative character of the project. The song, titled ‘Amb el cor’, aims to become an element of cohesion between territories and participants, and act as a sound symbol of this collective initiative in defense of the Catalan language. Artists such as Catarres, Doctor Prats, La Fúmiga, La Gossa Sorda and Fades participate, among many others.
