“To energize art, to stage the artists of Barcelonès Nord and to democratize access to culture in the periphery”. This is how Daniel de Gracia describes the new CE-CAL project (Cycle of Exhibitions Focused on Local Art) of the association 08 Rodalies Cultural, which is preparing four exhibitions in Santa Coloma, Badalona and Sant Adrià, by mid-2026.
The idea is to make known to groups of artists, outside their comfort zone. For example, Santa Coloma will receive the first exhibition in July, by the Badalona Fine Arts Group. During the first half of October, an urban art exhibition will be reproduced through entities such as WooStreetArt and Decofest (Santa Coloma de Gramenet), HOP (Sant Adrià del Besòs) and Pintamos Mucho (Badalona). Towards the end of October and beginning of November, Badalona will receive the Colomenc club of Els Coloristes.
The CE-CAL project also has the support of SapsQue and La Perifèrica, funded by the ComunarESS program of the Department of Labor of the Generalitat. For the last exhibition of the circuit, CE-CAL has opened a call until July 15 for all artists from Baix Besòs who wish to participate in this macro exhibition in December.
An initiative with Coloma roots that stems from the Projecte Cantera, the promotion of visual creation to generate an artistic community in Santa Coloma, and which was finalist in 2024 of the Premi Impulsa Cultura of the Fundació Catalunya Cultura. Two years later, the project has been renewed with the creation of 08 Rodalies Cultural and has expanded to Barcelonès Nord.
