The Colla Tres Tombs of Sant Joan Despí is the entity responsible for recovering and organizing the Tres Tombs celebration in the municipality, a traditional festival linked to the feast of Saint Anthony Abbot, patron saint of animals. This festival evokes rituals for the protection of livestock and farming, and is rooted in the history of the town.
During the festival, the Colla coordinates a parade of horses, carts, and draft animals that travels through the streets of the Centre neighborhood. The program includes the entry of vehicles and animals, a breakfast at the fairgrounds, the collection of the festival flag, a mass, and the traditional blessing of the animals in front of the parish church. Afterwards, the parade makes its three symbolic laps and concludes with a festive day open to citizen participation.
The Tres Tombs festival, as managed by the group, maintains the spirit of reconciling agricultural and peasant heritage with modern coexistence and community participation. Carriages, horses, domestic animals, and farmers—recreated or real—parade through Sant Joan Despí, reviving an ancestral ritual of blessing and protection, adapted to current times.
In each edition, the group also organizes pre-event activities, such as the flag presentation and the Tres Tombs dance, which bring together associations and residents and reinforce the festive and community character of the celebration.
With its activities, the Colla Tres Tombs of Sant Joan Despí contributes to preserving a festival of peasant tradition, keeping rural roots alive, and reaffirming the cultural identity of the municipality, while opening it up to the entire citizenry.
