Hocus Pocus Teatre was born in 1997 in Sant Joan Despí with the aim of providing continuity and artistic maturity to theatrical projects driven by a group of young people who had trained in a theater workshop at their high school. Since then, the company has developed intense stage activity that combines an amateur vocation with a careful commitment to interpretive quality and a diversity of formats.
In over two decades of history, the group has premiered more than a dozen works encompassing comedy, children's theatre, musicals, monologues, and contemporary pieces. Despite this variety, Hocus Pocus Teatre has been particularly characterized by its use of humor as a vehicle for social criticism, a hallmark that has connected with the local audience and with the different cultural venues where it has performed.
More than a hundred people have passed through the company, contributing to the evolution and continuity of the project. This collective trajectory has allowed for the renewal of creative energy and opened the group to new generations. Since 2020, Hocus Pocus Teatre has been organized into various sections: La Companyia, Hocus Pocus Jove, Hocus 2.0, Hocus Dones CHI, and the Grup Vocal Despistats. This structure broadens the range of proposals and allows for work with members aged between 14 and 99 years old.
With this diversification and continued activity, Hocus Pocus Teatre has established itself as a benchmark for the amateur theatre scene in Sant Joan Despí, contributing to the cultural vitality of the municipality and offering a creative space open to new perspectives and generations
