With thirteen editions behind it, Santa Coloma has consolidated itself as one of the reference venues for blues in Catalonia. The festival begins today, Friday, February 13, and will last until the 22nd with nine days of activities, in an edition that coincides with Carnival and that reinforces its international projection with the presence of artists from the United States
The festival opens this Friday with a blues dance class at the Riu Civic Centre. At night, the Don Martín Restaurant will host the first performance, by the Georgia Blues Band. On Sunday, February 15, Rock&Roll Brothers will perform at the Serra de Marina Neighbours' Association, while at the Yesterday bar there will be a concert by guitarist Pepe J. Gómez
The program also includes other cultural proposals. Monday, February 16, the Central Library will host the exhibition of the photographic collection by Àngel Elvira, co-founder of Santako Blues, titled On Route 66 and James Dean Trail to the Chicago Blues Festival. Between May and June 2025, the author traveled the route from northern Chicago to Saint Louis and returned, stopping at the Chicago Blues Festival
Tuesday, February 17, the students of IES Numància will participate in a musicalized didactic activity. Àngel Elvira will give a talk on the origin of African-American music, with the musical accompaniment of James Sedgwick, a Canadian artist residing in Santa Coloma. That same day, La Ciba will host the concert of Tori Sparks Band
On February 18, The Why Nots will perform at the restaurant El Perdut, in the Torribera Sports Complex. On Thursday the 19th, the blues will take to the streets with The A Swing Band around the Singuerlin Market. At Can Sisteré, the exhibition Crucijadas y Blues de vinilo, by Isabel Pardo, will be inaugurated, and the day will close with Swamp Preacher at Taverna GaudiR.
The Teatre Sagarra will be the central stage on Friday, February 20, with Las balas perdidas at seven in the evening and, two hours later, the North American Sax Gordon, who will share the stage with Fred Muñoz and Martín Burguez.
Saturday 21, also at the Sagarra, Doc & the Mads and the Polish Boogie Boys will perform.That same Saturday 21 will take place the IX Collector's Record Fair in the plaça de la Vila, and The A Swing Band will once again fill the streets with music, between the Mercat Sagarra and the central square. The festival will close on Sunday, February 22 with two concerts: MA Lonesome & Alan Bike at Ca la Sisqueta and Sweet & Boutin at the Cocktail Tavern Artcafe PiR33
