With the arrival of spring, Esplugues de Llobregat transforms into a vibrant and diverse literary scene. This April, the municipality unfolds a program that places the written word at the center, with proposals ranging from contemporary narrative to historical memory, passing through thriller or intimate story. Literature becomes the common thread of a month that highlights local talent and the passion for reading.

The literary presentations this month draw a rich and plural mosaic that combines local talent with that from other territories. On the one hand, the Associació de Dones Escriptores d’Esplugues (ADEE) presented yesterday, Wednesday, April 8, Trencadís, by Carolina Orgillés. In parallel, on Thursday, April 16, Raúl Montilla will return to the city with his new novel Los acordes de la ciudad, an emotional journey that connects music and urban landscape: a chronicle about the life of a musician who defies his destiny, in a journey through the working-class neighborhoods where rumba and flamenco become engines of social transformation.

To this scene is also added talent from outside the municipality, with the presentation, on Tuesday, April 21, of Donde caerse muerta, by Carolina Cabrera Galán. The novel, awarded the Premi Literari Delta, builds a choral story set in Mexico City, where various crossed and invisibilized lives draw a narrative with a postcolonial and socially committed perspective.

The literary April of Espluga Viva

For its part, the entity Espluga Viva further expands this thematic range with a cycle of exhibitions and presentations. The proposal opens with Els Bandolers Aristòcrates, a conference by Arnau Cònsul that explores a singular historical episode: that of nobles who, breaking with their status, delved into banditry.

From here, the public will be able to explore very diverse universes: the thriller L’udol de l’aigua, by Laia Vilaseca, which places the mystery in the Llobregat delta amidst family secrets and political tensions; Estic fent història, the book by Arturo Gaya in which memory takes center stage, tracing a generational portrait through thirty-seven stories; and the vindication of Dones de foc, by Dolors Marín, which recovers the role of thirteen women in the defense of the Republic.

This set of proposals evidences not only the literary vitality of the municipality, but also its capacity to generate spaces for reflection, memory and debate. An open invitation to discover stories that, from the municipality, dialogue with the world.

Beyond the literary aspect

As every year, the association Esbart Vila d'Esplugues will once again bring to the stage the legend of Sant Jordi with a show at Parc Pou d’en Fèlix on Saturday, April 25. This edition, however, will be more special than ever, as Fal·lera and Guita Trapella, the fire beasts of the municipality, and the correfocs group Boc de Biterna will participate. In addition, it will be an inclusive show with a sign language interpreter, reinforcing the participatory and accessible nature of the celebration. On the other hand, the next day, the Castellers d'Esplugues have invited the Sant Feliu group and the Esquerdats de l’Eixample to participate in the Casteller Day of Sant Jordi.
