Sex workers are the protagonists of the new exhibition that can be visited at the TPK in l'Hospitalet. Under the title MUSEO PUTA, the project has been promoted by the APROSEX association in coordination with LA ESCOCESA, with the support of ESWA and local artists.
This new exhibition at the Hospitalet art center is presented as a meeting and critical thinking space created by and for sex workers, where, through "art, training and the dissemination of whore culture," as explained by the project managers, work is done for the defense of human rights and against stigma.
The project was born within the framework of the international commemorations for the 50th anniversary of the occupation of the Saint-Nizier church, an event that marks the beginning of the organized struggle of sex workers against discrimination and for the defense of their fundamental rights.
An exhibition with first-person voices
The exhibition setup brings together physical works by artists and collectives from different territories, with the aim of placing sex workers within the cultural sphere. The exhibition includes disciplines such as photography, drawing, video, performance, archive art, installation, and literature. The exhibition features the participation of national and international artists, such as Carla Teneré, Andrea Corrales, Valentina del Panteón, Georgina Orellano or Anneke Necro, among others.
Through these artistic practices, MUSEO PUTA shows first-person discourses that question traditional external views and propose the exhibition as a space for artistic, aesthetic, and theoretical self-determination.
The exhibition can be visited until September 9, although throughout August the center will close for summer holidays. Visiting hours are Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 2 pm and from 5 pm to 8 pm.
