The croissant has been the true protagonist of this weekend in Barcelona with the celebration of the Croiss&Fest, at Poble Espanyol. For three days, this emblematic space of the city has hosted an essential event for lovers of this pastry piece, with sweet and savory proposals throughout the day.
All eyes were on the winning croissant of this edition, which has fallen to the Japanese pastry shop Takashi Ochiai with its proposal Berry Bliss, a croissant filled with mascarpone cream with strawberry and mint compote that has convinced the professional jury, who has distinguished it as the best croissant of this year's festival.
Dràcula wins among the public
For its part, the public's vote has awarded the proposal of the Terrassa residents El Secreto de Ciscu, with a croissant that reinvents the popular Dràcula ice cream. The creation is made with vanilla cream, cream, sour strawberry syrup and a cola-flavored glaze.
Beyond the tasting, the Croiss&Fest has also opted for gastronomic dissemination. The program has included workshops and activities with professional chefs designed for all audiences. Attendees have been able to participate in cookie dough making workshops, wine pairings, specialty coffee tastings, and showcookings focused on culinary techniques such as the omelette.
However, from the organization of the Croiss&Fest, they have wanted, one more year, to break the idea that the croissant is only a breakfast item and have defended that this product can be consumed at any time of the day, both in sweet and savory versions.
