Barcelona has a new cultural space dedicated exclusively to urban art. It is the Barcelona Art Street, known as BAS Museum, a project that started last May with the aim of becoming a reference point for the dissemination, conservation, and promotion of this artistic discipline, bringing together in one space consolidated creators and emerging talents from Barcelona and internationally.

Located at Carrer de la Carabassa, 10, in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, the museum is housed in a completely renovated historic building. The space combines "Barcelona's architectural heritage with an innovative cultural proposal that aims to establish a bridge between the language of the streets and cultural institutions," explain its managers.

BAS Museum was born with the aim of giving visibility to urban art, a discipline that, as the museum points out, despite its influence on contemporary culture, has often played a secondary role within traditional museum circuits. The initiative aims to offer a stable space for national and international artists to exhibit their works, develop new projects, and connect with the public.

The exhibition proposal includes a permanent collection, seven spaces exclusively dedicated to temporary exhibitions by emerging artists, which will be periodically renewed. The tour also incorporates a free access area, a specialized shop, and interactive content through QR codes that will allow visitors to delve into the trajectory and creative processes of the artists.

The museum's activities

Beyond the exhibitions, BAS Museum aims to become a cultural center with a program of guided tours, workshops, conferences, and educational activities aimed at all types of audiences. The project places special emphasis on cultural mediation and on creating links between artists, citizens, and institutions.

Among the creators present at the museum are internationally renowned names such as Vhils, Okuda, Felipe Pantone, Aryz, Escif, Bordalo II, Os Gemeos, Mina Hamada, Dulk, or Mariscal, alongside other artists who represent the diversity of languages of the current Barcelona urban scene.
