Sant Adrià del Besòs celebrated this March an important milestone: the 25th anniversary of the Trobada de Puntaires, an event that has consolidated itself as one of the most veteran in the region and a pillar of local popular culture. Plaça de la Vila hosted this special edition that gathers year after year hundreds of artisans to keep alive the art of bobbin lace, an intangible heritage that is part of the municipality's identity.
The craft of lacemaking is one of the artisan tasks with the most history, and in Sant Adrià it has deep roots thanks to two entities that keep it alive: the Dones de Sant Adrià association and the Dones de l'Agulla Daurada association. This year, to celebrate this round figure, the event was not limited only to lace, but opened up to other textile crafts, showing the richness and diversity of handmade work.
Sant Adrià has a past closely linked to the textile sector, as it housed the Can Baurier colony, where women were the main protagonists. To learn more about this history, one can visit the permanent exhibition at the Casal de Cultura (c. de la Mare de Déu del Carme, 22), which is also the headquarters of the two organizing associations. People interested in learning the trade or knowing the activities of the associations can contact them directly at the same Casal.
The Trobada de Puntaires thus consolidates itself as one of the longest-running cultural events in the territory, demonstrating that the artisan tradition remains alive and is transmitted from generation to generation thanks to the effort and dedication of the local entities.
