The Jon Cake cheesecake business was born at the beginning of the pandemic, with homemade production to subsequently distribute, and in a few years it became a complete reference in the world of pastry. Today the new store that Jon García, the founder, has opened in Barcelona, in this case in the Poblenou neighborhood, has opened its doors. It is the fifth in the city.
“40 minutes of queue, 150g of cake”. This is the main phrase that Jon Cake has written on his website. And indeed, the queues to taste the great variety of cheesecakes he makes are often very long. At the store in the Gothic Quarter, for example, the line of people outside the business is common. In Poblenou, the premises, of 350 square meters, are located at number 93 on Lope de Vega street.

Full of people just opening
The expectation that this business generates, in the real world and on social media, could be seen this morning in Poblenou. Only ten minutes after its opening there were already queues to order and all the tables were full. Besides the cheesecakes, the shop, where there are tables to sit, also offers different types of pastries and coffee.
Garcia, in statements to Línia, explains that the choice of Poblenou for the opening of the new premises is due to the fact that he wanted “a neighborhood that was a neighborhood so that the shop would be for those from Barcelona”. “We must not forget the local perspective”, he adds. He makes this reflection due to the fact that the Born shop, which is a great success and where queues are generated, attracts many tourists, which he logically also celebrates, but which leads him to say that it is a “saturated” neighborhood. In parallel, Garcia also explains that with this new premises, which has a large workshop area, they want to start expanding the business and sell their products for events or offices.
