Sant Cugat prepares to live a year full of culture on the occasion of the centenary of the Casa Aymat (1926-2026). The Sant Cugat City Council, with the collaboration of entities and cultural agents, has designed a calendar of activities to highlight the trajectory of the building, headquarters of the most prestigious carpet and tapestry manufacture in Catalonia during the 20th century.
The inaugural moment of the celebration will take place this Thursday, May 14 at 7 p.m., at the Centre Grau-Garriga d'Art Tèxtil Contemporani. The Councilor for Culture, Núria Escamilla, will be in charge of inaugurating the exhibition To slow down acceleration. Artistic residences and resistances at Casa Aymat (2019 – 2025).
The mayor of Sant Cugat, Josep Maria Vallès, has reaffirmed the city's commitment to this historic space: "Casa Aymat is once again a living space: a center for contemporary creation, open to artists and creators, especially young people, and a first point of contact with textile art. This centenary is also an expression of our city model: preserving heritage, valuing it and projecting it towards the future through culture and talent.”
